The Ali
Alghanim & Sons Group of Companies was founded in the
early 1960's. Over the next thirty years the business expanded
and diversified, with the Group in 1990 employing more than
two thousand people in Kuwait in automotive sales, service,
civil and mechanical contracting, manufacturing, transportation,
electrical engineering, electronic engineering, general trading
and hotel ownership with turnover of more than $150 million
per annum.
In 1990,
the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait temporarily suspended the Group's
operations within Kuwait and caused substantial damage to the
companies premises and operational facilities. The damage and
looting of the facilities when valued, reached over $ 50 million.
The Liberation
of Kuwait was the begining of a new era in the Groups business
activities. The sons of Ali Alghanim now entered the business
after completing their education and major adjustments were made
to the Kuwait operating companies in order to strengthen the Groups
development in preparation for the 21st century.
The Group
has now been organised into four main operating companies:
a) Ali
Alghanim & Sons Automotive Co.
b) Ali Alghanim
& Sons Trading & Contracting Co.
c) Ali Alghanim
& Sons General Trading Co.
d) Ali Alghanim
& Sons Investment Co.
